DUBAI, UAE
4,600,000 SF  |  1.4 MILLION SM
DESIGN COMPLETED 2008
Bawadi Skylines is a large singular parcel spanning a 6 meter stretch in the heart of Dubailand. Destined for development as one of the largest retail malls in the world, it will accommodate and entertain the millions of new tourists to the area attracted by the expanding developments and theme parks emanating from the new international airport nearby. Quezada Architecture and the principals of AE7 while at Burt Hill collaborated on all design aspects of this project. Bawadi Skylines was conceived as an Oasis in the desert, designed around a water/ surf theme park attracting multi-age users and spectators alike. With 3 levels of hotel accommodations as well as serviced apartments, boutique retail and the largest spa in the world (above 3 podium parking levels below), the complex was designed to a first phase objective of nearly one million square meters.

The hospitality district of the Bawadi Masterplan was an important feature in the overall design for the site. The three distinct hotels were sited around the water/ surf park with the 5 star providing a strong icon and beautiful beacon to the site. Designed as “the Lady of the Desert” the 5 star hotel is conveniently located at apex of the water park and flanked on either side by the world class spa facilities and the convention center. The 4 star hotel is adjoined to the convention center facilities and street front retail providing to “face” of the complex. The 3 star hotel, located at the main junction of 2 thoroughfares, is the anchor of the complex. All the hotels as well as the rest of the site are adjoined by water taxis and waterfront commercial and restaurant zones. All three hotels, though distinctively different, are all beautifully design, modern jewels.
